Aegis shaft grounding rings provide motor protection from destructive shaft voltages that are created by variable frequency drives (VFDs) used on AC and DC motors. Once these voltages exceed the bearing lubricant's resistance, they are discharged through the bearings, causing pitting, craters, and fluting. The end result is a noisy motor that eventually fails.
Bearing rings help to prevent electrical VFD damage by using conductive microfibers to divert harmful currents to ground through the motor frame, and dramatically extending the motor life.
These motors come brand new from the factory with the Aegis ring installed and have a manufacturer's warranty.
