Collection: IEEE 841 Motors

IEEE 841 motors are designed for petroleum, chemical, steel, and pulp and paper industry applications, including machinery, pumps, fans, and blowers.

Standard features include all cast iron construction, extended grease tubes, oversized and diagonally split junction box, 0.04 inches per second vibration or less, superior epoxy paint, stainless steel nameplate, tight and/or sealed joints, high quality slingers or seals, 1.15 - 1.25 service factor, and extended factory warranty.

IEEE 841-2009 is the IEEE Standard for Petroleum and Chemical Industries. Qualifying equipment is defined as premium efficiency totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC), horizontal and vertical, single-speed, squirrel cage polyphase induction motors, up to and including 370 kW (500 hp), and 4000 volts in National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) frame sizes 143T and large.

Excluded from the scope of this standard are sleeve bearing motors and additional specific features required for explosion-proof motors.

Built for demanding applications that include:

  • Ambient temperatures from -25° C to 40° C (-13° F to 104° F)
  • Altitude to 1000 m (3281 ft)
  • Humid, corrosive, or salty environments
  • Full voltage starting
  • Class I, Division 2: explosive gas or vapor present during abnormal operation, but not likely to exist under normal operating conditions

Each motor ships brand new from the factory and has a manufacturer's warranty.
