❓On vertical mounting, is it okay to mount your electric motors both shaft up and down?"
Yes. In general, electric motors up to and including 447T frame can be mounted vertically shaft up and down. Electric motors installed vertically must be protected from weather conditions, especially water penetration e.g. drip covers installed for shaft down outdoor operation. Larger electric motors are horizontal operation only. See individual product pages for details.
❓What kind of bearings are in Elektrim AC motors?
20 and 31 Series motors up to NEMA 286T/TS frame and equivalent metric up to and including IEC180L frames are equipped with double-shielded bearings greased for life. Larger electric motors have regreasable bearings. See individual product pages for details.
❓What kind of grease should I use to re-grease your bearings?
We typically use POLYREX® EM grease in our regreasable bearings. Please look to individual product manual for specific details and regreasing schedule.
❓Should drain holes always be opened?
Drain holes should be opened at the motor's lowest point when an electric motor is operating in a wet, high humidity atmosphere or low temperature environment. This gives moisture a pathway out of the motor so that it doesn't become trapped inside, which could otherwise cause the electric motor to short over time.
❓Are your electric motors inverter rated?
Yes. All three phase (3PH) motors are inverter duty rated. See individual product pages for specific inverter duty ratings for each product group.
❓Can your NEMA motors run at 208V?
NEMA Motors up to 400 frame are suitable at 208V. The connection diagram is the same as 230V. Max amps at 208V are placed on the nameplate.
