Confirming Motor Compatibility
  • Check the nameplate: Motor must be rated 230V, 3-Phase. Dual-voltage motors (e.g., 230/460V) should be wired for 230V (low-voltage connection).
  • HP match: Motor nameplate HP should be 3 HP or less. Running a motor significantly under-rated for this drive is acceptable; oversizing is not.
  • FLA vs. drive output current: Motor Full Load Amps (FLA) must not exceed 10.5 A. Compare the nameplate FLA directly to the drive's rated output.
  • Motor type: Designed for standard AC induction motors. Verify compatibility with the manufacturer before use with permanent magnet or other specialty motor types.
Application Notes
  • Single-phase input draws higher current than three-phase input of equivalent kVA — ensure your supply circuit and breaker are sized appropriately for single-phase service.
  • Chassis (IP20) enclosure is intended for installation inside a control panel or enclosure. Not rated for direct outdoor or wash-down environments.
  • Output frequency range supports variable speed operation; consult motor manufacturer for minimum allowable operating speed on continuous-duty applications.
  • Do not use output contactors between the drive and motor while the drive is running. Parameter configuration is required before first run — refer to the L510 user manual.
