SEW-EURODRIVE GEARMOTOR PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Helical Gearmotor R Series
Helical gearmotors by SEW-EURODRIVE ensure an optimum ratio between power and space requirements; offered in six single-stage, fourteen two-stage, and three-stage sizes. Advantages include high torque density, long service life, and reduced backlash option (models R37 – R167).
Eurodrive has a modular concept and strict quality criteria that results in gearmotors with a diverse range of torques and reduction ratios with incomparably finely tuned gradings. It is this diversity that sets new standards in the field of drive engineering.
Available Helical Gearmotor options include:
- Single-stage or multi-stage
- Foot-mounted or flange-mounted
- Foot-mounted and flange-mounted
- Flange-mounted with extended bearing hub
Helical Gearmotor models:
- RX Series (single stage): For high output speeds, the exclusively single-stage gear units RX57 to RX107 offer compact solutions for your system design.
- R Series (two stage and three stage): For applications where weight is an issue, these multi-stage gear units provide something special: Thanks to their die-cast aluminum design, the models R07, R17 and R27 are three particularly efficient lightweights – ideal as satellite drives and for use in light machine constructions. Reduced backlash helical gear units are also available for particularly precise requirements.
- RM Series: RM gearmotors with extended output bearing hub are a special type of helical gearmotor. They were designed especially for agitating applications and allow for high overhung and axial loads and bending moments. The remaining data corresponds to that of standard helical gearmotors.
Parallel Shaft Helical Gearmotor F series (two stage and three stage)
With a drive for every industry, SEW Eurodrive’s parallel shaft gear units provide high torque density, high permitted overhung loads, multi-stage options for low output speeds, and a reduced backlash option (models F37 – F157).
These parallel shaft helical gearmotors are super slim – perfect for limited space - and come in a wide range of sizes and designs to fit most industrial applications. Tough enough to endure challenging environments; SEW’s parallel shaft helical gearmotors are typically used in conveyor and materials processing applications
You can choose from foot-mounted, flange-mounted or shaft-mounted options. Reduced backlash parallel shaft helical gear units are also available on request for precise positioning tasks.

Spiroplan® Gearmotor W Series
SPIROPLAN® gearmotors are robust right-angle gearmotors with SPIROPLAN gearing. Quiet, lightweight, and wear-free, these SPIROPLAN ® gear units differ from other helical-worm gear units with their material combination of the steel-on-steel gearing; special tooth meshing relationships; and aluminum housing.
Not only lightweight, SPIROPLAN® gearmotors are compact for tight spots due to their short design. The wear-free gearing and life-long lubrication facilitate long periods of maintenance-free operation.
Another bonus feature is that SPIROPLAN® gearmotors can be mounted in any positionwithout altering the oil quality because the oil fill is independent of the mounting position. Identical hole spacing in the foot and face as well as the equal shaft height to both provides you with diverse mounting options.
Available versions:
- Foot-mounted or flange-mounted
- B5 or B14 Flange-mounted
- Solid or hollow shaft
Stainless Steel Gear Units
Machinery that is subjected to routine cleaning and harsh cleaners, like in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, requires durable stainless steel construction, and this is where SEW Eurodrive shines!
Stainless steel gear units from SEW Eurodrive keep things moving, wherever machines and systems are used for materials handling, intralogistics, or hygienic applications. Their hygienic properties, long operating life, and maintenance friendliness make them optimally suited to specific washdown and wet conditions.
The KES37 bevel-helical gear units and RES37 helical gear units host a special housing design and high-quality stainless steel. The surface is easy to clean; highly resistant against acids and alkalis; and has minimal recesses where dirt can collect.
Eurodrive also offers stainless IEC and NEMA adapters for mounting options. Avoid corrosion with these stainless steel designs!
VARIMOT® Variable Speed Gearmotor
For variable speed applications up to 45 kW, combine VARIBLOC®® and VARIMOT®® variable speed gear units with SEW Eurodrive reduction gear units to create variable speed drives with a low output speed and high output torque. Combining variable speed gearmotors with helical, parallel-shaft helical, helical-bevel and helical-worm gear units has proven effective at low speeds.
Variable-speed gear units are available with DRS and DRE motors so they meet the European efficiency requirements.
Features include:
- Increased starting torque
- Large permitted overhung loads of the reduction gear units
- Large number of finely stepped gear ratios of the reduction gear unit, depending on size
- Choice of manual or remote speed control
- Easy operation
The foot- and flange-mounted versions can also be used to power machines without a reduction gear unit. Speed can be adjusted mechanically, e.g. with a handwheel, or electromechanically using a servomotor.
Models include:
- VU/VZ series VARIBLOC®®:In the power range up to 45 kW, the VU and VZ designs of the VARIBLOC®® wide V-belt variable speed gearmotors are used. Typical speed setting ranges are 1:4, 1:6 and 1:8. The U- or Z-shaped power flow and numerous combination possibilities with reduction gear units mean that these speed gearmotors can be supplied in a broad range of designs. They can easily be tailored to the most diverse machine structures.
- D series VARIMOT®®: Friction disk variable speed gearmotors VARIMOT®® The D series is suited for power a power range up to 11 kW and speed setting ranges 1:4 or 1:5. The contact pressure between the driving pulley and the friction ring required for torque transmission is set automatically. The speed can even be adjusted when the gearmotor is at standstill.
